vespachica: (What Would Alton Cook?)

On Friday I thought I was having a psychic moment. I thought about the thrift store near work (I work in a very well-to-do location) and wondered if they, perhaps, had any Fiesta dishes. I walked in and saw something that looked, from a distance, like Fiestaware! I thought, "Wow! Psychic powers: activate!" But, sadly, upon closer inspection I found it was not the real deal. I decided to look around the store more. They have a very small kitchen section but imagine my delight when I saw this little beauty sitting on the shelf:

I immediately thought of [livejournal.com profile] dulamae and then thought how I don't really have a lot of cute serving dishes. I do have two Pyrex casserole dishes but they're clear glass and definitely not as classy as this. I may have stumbled into an addiction. Luckily, this only cost me $1.50 which is totally cheap for a great 1.5 quart casserole dish.

ETA: Um, holy shit. It appears this is from 1957. Is that right? Also, it didn't come with a lid. Looking at this website it reminded me of the Pyrex lids and I remember not liking them very much when I was a kid.

This first one is the crockpot orange chicken. Notice it's a bit burnt? Yeah. Ugh. I am not totally writing this recipe off but it's definitely not one you can leave in the crockpot for 10 hours.

Next we have the standard smoked sausages and scalloped potatoes. I forgot to cook a vegetable for this. It was last night's dinner. It was tasty.

The only possible way for that dish to be any cuter would be i it was green. Green and orange are my most FAVORITE colors.
