Basically, the moderator opened up membership and asked existing members to put their birth date, including year, on their profile so she could ensure the members were 18 or older. Then, a mere four hours later, she freaked out and scolded everyone about it. A lot of people had problems with it for privacy concerns (plus, really, anyone could put a date on the profile and it doesn't mean it's accurate). After a couple of dramatic posts paired with sane comments, she deleted the community. I have to say, though, after perusing what little of her journal was public she seemed like one of those people who thrive on drama. Not a good mix for a community such as snack swapping. I mean, talk about as close to drama-free for LJ as one could (or should) get! :)
