Día de los Muertos.

And I'm honoring him by sending his kids to bed without a bedtime story (that was sarcastic). I'm honoring him by getting buzzed on Torched Cherry rum and diet cola. I'm honoring him by listening to songs on YouTube and singing out loud. I'm honoring him by wearing his scarf. I don't want to take it off.

I miss him so much. It's palpable today. 12 years ago a little sperm had sought out a little egg and its name ended up being "Baxter".

Everyone thinks I am so strong. I am not. I am weak. I am being carried by currents that are not directed by me. I am a wreck. I try not to show it so much but I really am.

I'm strong on the surface...not all the way through...

The house is clean.

Elliot Smith on the iPod. Candles on the fireplace. Sophia in my face. 1 bottle of wine consumed (so far).

Could life be any better?

Recently I bought a book called 1,000 Recordings to Hear Before You Die. I am trying to get them from the library versus buying them but it looks like I may have to buy some of them.

The first one that came from the library was Abyssinian Baptist Gospel Choir with a CD called Shakin' the Rafters. I imported into my iTunes so I can move it to my iPod when I listen to it. I feel like listening through my iPod gives me the best quality possible. I want to make notes about the music throughout this project.

Since I left college I have really gotten away from critically listening to music of different types. I bought the book so it would urge me to get back into doing this exercise.

I walked up the big hill near work. I didn't wimp out halfway through and go down a side street. I went 3/4 of the way up (the last 1/4? I'm not sure where it goes). Then I walked back to work the long way.

I was listening to The Killers Sam's Town. The Killers provide some of the best walk-your-ass-off music. Part of the way through my walk I wanted to dance my way through the residential neighborhood but I didn't want to look silly.

Anyway, the walk was great. About 20-25 minutes (6 1/2 songs) and I feel pretty good.

We're watching Live from Abbey Road right now. Brian Wilson is on and it's such a shame how debilitated he is now. He can't even sing anymore. :(

As a plus, Martha Wainwright and Teddy Thompson will be on after Brian.
