Día de los Muertos.

And I'm honoring him by sending his kids to bed without a bedtime story (that was sarcastic). I'm honoring him by getting buzzed on Torched Cherry rum and diet cola. I'm honoring him by listening to songs on YouTube and singing out loud. I'm honoring him by wearing his scarf. I don't want to take it off.

I miss him so much. It's palpable today. 12 years ago a little sperm had sought out a little egg and its name ended up being "Baxter".

Everyone thinks I am so strong. I am not. I am weak. I am being carried by currents that are not directed by me. I am a wreck. I try not to show it so much but I really am.

Linkin Park - Leave Out All the Rest

I'm strong on the surface...not all the way through...

This sounds good:

Hot Buttered Rum
Winter mornings don't need to be so chilly

Combine in a footed coffee mug

1 1/2 oz. Dark Rum
1 tsp. Brown Sugar
1 tsp. Butter
Fill with hot water or milk. Stir well and top with Nutmeg.

Or this:

Kahlua Hot Chocolate

3/4 oz. Kahlua
3/4 oz. Chocolate Liqueur
3/4 cup Hot Chocolate

Prepare the hot chocolate. Add in Kahlua and liqueur. Stir well. Garnish with Hershey’s Chocolate Kiss and marshmallow.

I don't have any chocolate liqueur (I don't think) so I can't do that second one. Wah!

This one sounds pretty good, too:

Hot Toddy
Bring on Winter - We're Ready!

1 oz. Brandy
1 Tablespoon Honey
1/4 Lemon
1 cup Boiling Water
1 Tea Bag

Coat the bottom of a mug with the honey. Add brandy and juice of lemon quarter. On the side, boil water and add tea bag to make hot tea. Pour steaming tea into honey/brandy/lemon combination.

Oh yeah, and it's snowing again. :-/

This is the gift I brought to the cookie party for the gift exchange. Every year around Christmas time I get an awesome present from Maker's Mark. This year it was wrapping paper, ribbon, and tags. Sweet, right? So I bought a mini bottle of the whisky from the liquor store to tie onto the package. Inside the package was a snowman hand towel and lotion/shower gel set in some seasonal scent. The gift went over pretty well, which is good. I'm surprised, given how boozy our group is, that it didn't get picked as one of the first gifts, though. No matter. It was still cool.

Speaking of drinking, I snapped this photo whilst browsing a magazine in the doctor's office this morning. Bill and I were waiting to get our blood drawn. I snapped the photo because it looks like a good drink to make!

In case it doesn't come out, here is the recipe:

1 oz. vodka
1 oz. hazelnut liqueur
1 oz. coffee liqueur
1 splash of milk

Pour ingredients into an old-fashioned glass filled with ice. Stir. Consume.

[ profile] cerebellum, I'm gonna make a big picture post of the Sloppy Joe Pot Pie for ya later tonight. It's cooking in the oven now and smells really yummy.

Whoa. I had no idea Everclear (151 proof) is sold in the state of Washington. I thought one had to go to Montana for that. I've had it once or twice before but that was in Spokane.

Last night's cocktail:

Chai and Vanilla Vodka (as prescribed by [ profile] tat2whttrsh)

Last night's dinner:

The Pioneer Woman's lasagna, caesar salad, garlic bread

Tonight's dinner (feeling a lot more whiskey tango):

Chicken Top Ramen, vodka with Jones Soda Lemon Drop

Need to make a slight disclaimer here for new people on board. I don't drink every night. *grin*
